THE man hoping to be our next Prime Minister will take to the stage in Wharf Green later today.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will make his second visit to Swindon in as many months as the General Election campaign picks up pace ahead of June 8.

Party members will be hoping to draw a crowd as Mr Corbyn attempts to build on a narrowing gap in the polls and a strong showing in the televised ‘debate’ programme on Monday evening.

He will appear alongside Labour’s South Swindon candidate, Sarah Church.

The former Army officer turned libraries campaigner is seeking to overturn Conservative Robert Buckland’s 5,785 majority.

While Labour members have been out on the doorstep in force over recent weeks, this will be the first high profile public event of the campaign so far.

The rally will get underway at 1pm and is expected to last for around one hour.

Admission is free and open to the general public as well as party members.
