POLICE called out to deal with an obstruction in Cricklade discovered it was a mini digger that had been stolen from another part of the country two years ago.

The machinery, which was on an Ifor Williams trailer had been left in the West Mill area and was found on Friday. It was later identified as having been stolen from Middlesex.

Now they are asking for people who may have seen the white and red coloured digger in the area to contact them. They believe it may have been towed by a blue and yellow Range Rover and a white highway maintenance van with the letters SHD on it.

Anyone with information can call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
