A SWINDON business owner fears he could go bankrupt after thousands of pounds and hundreds of contracts for his wedding disco business were stolen from his home.

Luke Kaye, who owns Skywalkers, was getting ready to relax after finishing up the second successful Swindon Comic Convention when he learned about a theft at his home that had occurred while he was away running the convention.

Luke says the thief stole £5,000 and all of the documents for his mobile disco hire business which he runs concurrently with his well-known town centre fancy dress shop in the town centre.

This week he said he was devastated by the loss of contracts and the booking forms and contact information for his clients.

It means that he could now lose thousands more in revenue as he has no idea where or when his next wedding bookings are.

Mr Kaye said: “I’ve lost everything, I desperately need those contracts back.

“We’ve just done Comic-Con trying to raise money for charity and now I might go bankrupt or bust.

“I think I’m done with Swindon after this.”

The crime has been reported to Wiltshire Police, who are currently investigating.

A spokesman for the police said: “We have received a report of a theft of money from inside a house in Cricklade Road, Swindon.

“It is believed £5,000 in cash was stolen between midnight on 31 May and midday on 7 June.”

Mr Kaye said he had just spent thousands of pounds organising this year’s Comic Con so the loss of £5,000 in cash is a huge blow which he may not be able to bounce back from.

In a tearful video posted to facebook, Luke urged viewers to help him.

He said: “I don’t know where I am or what I’m doing so please spread the word.

“I’ll offer a reward, an R2-D2 unit, anything, I’m selling my whole collection.

“I do all this stuff for Swindon and this is the way I get repaid, I’ve had enough.

“I try to raise money and raise smiles and this is the way I get treated.”

In the video, Luke also suggested that he would close his shop, but he quickly clarified his statement when the Adver spoke to him.

He said: “I don’t know, the future of the shop is unclear at the moment.

“I’m just so upset, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Anyone who has booked Skywalkers for their wedding entertainment or for any other event should contact Luke immediately on 01793 488338 or email skywalkers@btconnect.com
