CARERS in Swindon have had their artwork put on display at the Artsite studio near the Wyvern Theatre.
A fabulous unveiling took place on Saturday to coincide with National Carers Week and Swindon Carers Centre’s annual Walk a Mile event.
The exhibition, entitled Reflections of a Carer, is a combination of work by local artist Vicky Silver and a host of other talented carers.
Vicky, who is herself a carer, said: “Swindon Carers Centre is a brilliant organisation that supports so many people in the town.
“This gallery is a great way of giving something back to the people who do so much for others.
“Carers are some of the most under-valued people in our society. They have to fight for everything they get and to be a part of something like this to mark National Carers Week is wonderful.”
An impressive range of pictures incorporating different techniques had been painted by the carers and an elaborate birdcage complete with flying doves had been assembled by Vicky.
Fiona Prinzi, director of service development at the carers centre, said: “We are very grateful for the support we receive from people like Vicky and this exhibition is wonderful.”
It runs until June 17.
