A BELOVED school pet is believed to have sparked a police search on Wednesday after it went missing overnight.
Now police have charged a 28-year-old man on suspicion of stealing the rabbit and its hutch from the town centre primary school.
Kevin Bulmer, 28, of Northampton Street, Swindon, was arrested and charged on Wednesday with the theft of a rabbit and hutch from Drove Primary School, Drove Road.
It is believed that Mr Bulmer is accused of stealing school rabbit Patch. A picture shared on the school’s Twitter account suggests that the bunny was returned by police on Thursday.
Mr Bulmer was awarded bail and is due to appear before Swindon Magistrates on Wednesday, July 5.
Drove Primary School declined to comment on the alleged theft.
