We don’t want gallery

Where was the community which is not supporting the white elephant Swindon Museum And Art Gallery?

If the picture in the SA on Thursday, June 15, is anything to go by I counted 30 heads including Rod Hebden and half a dozen council staff who no doubt were told by the leader, ‘you will attend we need to make it look like loads are there.’

Was there anyone from the general public there? Maybe behind the person taking the photograph, not important enough to be in front of it? Or were the 30 in the photograph it?

If so, that’s the community is it? When are you going to get it into your heads and finally realise the general population of Swindon, just like me, are not behind this farce of a project so why do you keep saying things like the community are behind you all the way?

You cannot go to the Heritage Lottery Fund and lie to them saying Swindon is behind you when the picture tells the truth - Swindon is not.

I do not wish to speak for the majority but we cannot afford to pour millions of tax payers’ money into this scheme, not at the present time when services are being cut the average Joe or Joan are paying the council tax and the parish tax and struggling to make ends meet.

The story about the two kittens on Page 3 made better reading.

Some answers please

CAN I reply to the letter from Mark, with the following questions, which I’m sure he will answer.

It has been announced in the last few days that the student loan debt, which his party leader has promised to write off, has now risen to about £100bn – can Mark tell us where that sort of money is coming from?

The Shadow Chancellor Mr McDonnell is now in the process of getting a million people to make protest marches to bring down the Government, as he doesn’t like the result of the last election.

He has stated in the past that his aim is direct action or insurrection, is this party policy now Mark?

When the Labour Party ran the country from 1997 to 2010, the personal allowance did not rise once, and stayed at the level of about £5,500.

And, remember, during these years, Mr Brown, sold, or should it be gave away, nearly all of our gold reserves.

Since 2010, and despite all the austerity cuts that Mark complains about, this personal allowance is now about £11,600. Does he now also advocate that we should resort to the lower level of allowance and reduced wages?

Ireland border solution

THE problem of the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic could be solved if the Irish people decided to leave the EU like the British people have apparently done in the referendum.
