A SPECIAL candle-lit party will take place on Friday to raise funds for Brighter Futures.

Jo Gower, 43, from North Swindon, works as a consultant for PartyLite, a company which hosts magical candle-light parties in people’s homes.

And Jo will tomorrow host a glittering, shining show in her own home to help bring radiotherapy to Swindon.

Jo’s event is her own take on Brighter Future’s summer tea party, which sees friends and families come together to enjoy a few sweet treats in the sunshine.

Jo will donate 10 per cent of the sales of the event to the radiotherapy appeal, plus the money made from selling tea and cakes and raffle tickets.

A very excited Jo said: “I heard that Brighter Futures were hosting charity tea parties in June and I thought I would use that and do a home PartyLite event.

“I try to do an event like this twice a year and it’s a good opportunity to get rid of some of the stock before the next catalogue comes out. People can get a really good bargain while raising money for a good cause.”

She is hosting the event because she has a friend who has been affected by cancer and wants to help raise awareness.

She said: “Brighter Futures is something that crops up a lot on my newsfeed because a friend supports them. I think it is a wonderful charity that can really change the lives of those living in Swindon, so I thought I would give them a shout and see if I could help them.

“There are so many amazing charities out there and I thought it would be good to support a local cause. They need our money because what they are doing is amazing.”

Looked ahead to the party, Jo said: “I’m really excited for Friday. I love seeing people win things and get special offers and bargains. Hopefully everyone will go away happy having raised a lot of money as well.”

Jo is hosting a session in the morning and in the evening at her home in North Swindon.

She will even donate to Brighter Futures an extra £5 for every party she manages to book on the night.

So far £1,601,306 has been raised for Brighter Futures. The team is very grateful for every single donation and wish to thank everyone for their support.
