Tickets to what could be the hottest gig of the year sold out in over 90 minutes, staff at the Oasis Leisure Centre said.

Welsh rockers Stereophonics will play at the Oasis on July 26.

Three thousand tickets went on sale at 9am on Tuesday morning and by 10.45am staff at the centre were told that all had been snapped up.

Jon Lane, 35, duty manager at the Oasis Leisure Centre, said: "I guess they're a well supported band. It should be a good concert. I like their kind of music."

This is not the first time Stereophonics has played in the town.

The four-piece band, which has enjoyed global success with hits Dakota and Have a Nice Day, made their Swindon debut at the Oasis Centre in 2010.

Those not lucky enough to get themselves a Stereophonics ticket might want enjoy avant-guard rock band Placebo in October.
