Hungry meat-lovers will be given a new choice for a night out when steak restaurant Miller and Carter opens its doors on Friday.

The chain, which operates more than 70 restaurants across Britain, will open its first Swindon venue on Drove Road. The restaurant replaces the old Harvester pub.

Among the mouth-watering meals on offer when the restaurant opens at midday will be burgers, pulled beef and 30-day-aged steak.

Dean Denman, general manager for the Swindon restaurant, is excited about the opening: "It's had a massive makeover. There's a nice new open plan kitchen now."

Dean, who said that he's "definitely a meat eater", added: "Our steaks are premium quality and sources from the finest cows. They're full of flavour."

The restaurant says its opening has created 50 new jobs for kitchen and front-of-house staff.

Adrean Georgious, regional business manager at Miller and Carter, said: "We look forward to providing the best steaks and service that Miller and Carter is renowned for across the UK.

"Everyone who works for us is completely obsessed with steak."
