PUPILS from Meadowpark School, in Cricklade, headed off for an orienteering adventure on the Coleshill Estate.
The year five and six youngsters were on a field trip on June 21 as part of their geography topic on map work and were given a chance to put their skills into practice.
Reading compasses, deciphering contour lines and following a map, they were concentrating hard on finding 12 hidden markings among the beechwood trees at Badbury Clump.
“Everyone was successful with their mapwork and the orienteering event was enjoyed by all the students,” said marketing manager Melissa Spagnoli.
The estates, which are owned by the National Trust, have a series of events for families next month, including a chance to discover their hidden Second World War history with a walk through the village, woods and parkland where Churchill’s secret army of resistance trained.
A river ramble along the Cole takes place on July 29 and on July 15 there will be the only chance this year to camp by the Thames at Buscot village.
