A SUMMER fair has raised more than £1,000 for Eldene Nursery & Primary School.

Families flocked to the fair, donating money to support the school.

Pupils enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland-themed fair, which featured stalls, games, facepainting, and a raffle with great prizes.

Headteacher Heather Kellett even volunteered to be put in the stocks, where pupils gleefully threw wet sponges at her.

The event was organised by the school’s parent teacher association, known as Aspires: the Association of Supporters & Parents Involved in fundRaising for Eldene School.

It was the first fair the group had held, with all proceeds going directly back to the nursery and primary school.

Deputy headteacher Wendy Blanchard was very grateful for their efforts.

She said: “Aspires have put a lot of hard work into this and it’s very much appreciated.

“It’s a great total.

“The fair was busy and well-supported, with lots of children running around, spending their pocket money and having a great time.

“It was a nice opportunity for families to come together and we were really lucky that it didn’t rain on the day.”
