A PROM guest made a traffic-stopping entrance when he turned up to the party in his father’s truck – a decade after his brother arrived at his send-off in the same fashion.

Ben Lloyd, 15, was dropped off by father Mark, who runs a transport firm utilising the six-wheeler MAN lorry. The school leaver, who looks up to his 26-year-old brother Jake, never had any intention of arriving in a limo when he had a bigger ride at his disposal.

Ben, from Haydon Wick, made the heavyweight arrival at the Nova Hreod Year 11 prom at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.

Mark named the company LJKB transport after his children which includes sisters Leanne, 29, and Kate, 20, and always makes the effort for special occasions despite travelling long distances away from home through work.

He relished the chance to play chauffeur.

Ben’s mother Dawn said: “It was 10 years ago when Jake went to his prom in another lorry we owned, and Ben never gave it a second thought, even after his friends asked him to go in a limo. He looks up to his brother and his dad and he wanted to carry on the tradition and make them proud.

“His dad works away a lot and they don’t get to spend much time together. It only came together three days before the prom. They’re always there for one another when it matters.”

Ben, who plays as a winger for Swindon Rugby Club, posed for a picture by the truck, which bears his father’s name on the front.

All four siblings went to Nova Hreod, with Jake having his prom at the Marriott Hotel in Old Town. Their older sister Leanne Smith also shared in the tradition when she arrived in an American lorry at her wedding in 2014, posing in front of the truck with Mark.

Dawn said: “Ben and Jake have a great brotherly friendship but all four children and their dad are close and support each other in their lives.”
