STAFF from tmgroup who put on their walking boots for charity managed to raise over £1,800 in the process.

The Swindon-based technology firm, based at Delta Business Park, decided to put their best feet forward for Prospect Hospice as part of a charity walk.

And yesterday, the team were able to hand over the £1,820 cheque as a way of showing their thanks and gratitude to all the work that the Wroughton-based hospice does in the community.

The 75-strong team, which equates to around two-thirds of the workforce, walked around 100 miles along the Thames Path from Cirencester to Clifton Hampden in groups – with each able to choose their distance.

The company is already active in fundraising for charity and this walk in particular was the brainchild of Paul Baker, who works in the IT team.

“I was definitely surprised by the take-up of people at the company to take part,” the 50-year-old said.

“I think it was down to the fact that people had options in terms of distances they were comfortable to walk in from seven, 10 or 15 miles.

“We do quite a bit of charity work anyway and last year we did the Ridgeway Run, so raising money is something that fits in with our work culture. We run a wellbeing programme and we try to promote charity work in the community and living a healthy lifestyle as much as we can.”

MD of tmgroup Paul Albone handed over the cheque to Prospect’s challenge events fundraiser Louise Brooks at their offices yesterday afternoon.

Paul added that while the team has now fully recovered from their walk, everyone has put on their thinking caps to come up with a bigger and better fundraiser next year.

He said: “The company has very much supported us in doing this and one good thing that came out of it is that we were able to build collaborations between the different teams at tmgroup.”
