EASTCOTT Community Organisation is getting ready to host the fourth Repair Café and Free Shop of the year, on Sunday at Savernake Street Social Hall.

There will be opportunity to get items repaired by skilled volunteers at the Repair Cafe, bring and take items at the Free Shop, or just pop in and enjoy some live music, refreshments and community conversation between 2-5pm.

This month’s event takes place during the national Community Centre Week, held to celebrate community centres throughout the UK.

Visitors on Sunday will have the opportunity to join in community art, run by local artist Sue Bardwell – the art created will then take pride of place in the community centre for all visitors to enjoy.

The Community Health & Wellbeing team, part of Public Health, will be on hand to talk about their projects, including The Big Knit, and some of the hirers of the centre will be available to talk about the activities and classes they offer.

The event has received excellent support from local musicians and this Sunday is no exception. There will be live music by David Garmont and local band S’Go to enjoy while sharing and repairing.

The event is free, although donations are welcome to put towards repairing supplies and overheads.

The organisers request that no electrical items or bikes are brought, either for the Repair Café or Free Shop. For more information about the Repair Café, Free Shop, contact eastcottcommunity@yahoo.co.uk
