BEAUFORT’S hounds went on show last month at the 2017 Beaufort Puppy Show at Badminton Kennels.

This year's event, on Saturday, June 24, showcased the young hounds and saw them judged on their conformation and movement. The Beaufort hounds are renowned throughout the world for their size and quality.

The hunt’s Jo Aldridge said: “Summer is a busy time in hunt kennels with hounds to exercise and puppies being born.

“At last year’s puppy show everyone – judges, hunt staff and spectators – was soaked to the skin as the rains came down. 2017 thankfully was a little kinder with a light breeze and sunshine; perfect showing conditions.

“The joint masters were delighted to welcome a great number of hunt staff from around the country. Kennel huntsman Nick Hopkins and his team did a fine job showing the young hounds and judges Martin Scott and Nigel Peel MFH had their work cut out selecting the best.”

The show winners were: Poacher in the dog category, walked by Mrs R. Brack from Burton, Wiltshire, and Porridge in the bitches category, walked by Mrs R. D. Montgomerie from Ashley near Tetbury.
