A WANBOROUGH man who drove down Queen’s Drive at 64mph was trying to impress his girlfriend, a court has heard.
Tarron White, 21 of Church Road, was caught red-handed by police back on January 8 this year after they spotted him speeding in his Volkswagen Golf.
The speed limit along Queen’s Drive is 40mph.
After being flagged down by the officer, White drove past but later stopped in nearby Cambridge Close, with White telling the officer at the scene: “I was showing off to my girlfriend.”
White had previously pleaded guilty to the charge back in May but was adjourned for sentencing.
On Tuesday, magistrates endorsed White’s licence with five points and fined him £185. He was also told to pay court costs of £85 and £30 towards victim services.
