DEVELOPERS set to transform the former Ivy Hotel in Wroughton into state-of-the-art retirement flats have released new images of what people can expect once work has been completed.

McCarthy and Stone hope to give the area a new lease of life by making it a safer place to live for older residents when the complex opens its doors next year.

Construction work is well underway at the Moormead Road site and it is expected that developers will start selling off-plan from December with a sales launch event planned for January.

Kim Caldwell, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone, said she hopes the new image gives residents living in the area an insight into what the development will look like on completion.

She added: “Our Wroughton development is progressing well, with piling and ground working underway and construction planned to start next month. We have also just released a new CGI showing what the development will look like once complete.”

The Ivy Hotel closed back in 2013 after being at the centre of a spate of vandalism over a number of years in the village.

Not wanting to see a plot of land fall to the wayside, McCarthy and Stone announced plans for the retirement apartments last year.

It is anticipated that the new retirement living development, comprising of 35 one and two bedroom apartments, will provide an ideal downsizing option for retirees aged 60 and over.

The new development will feature a 24 hour state-of-the-art security system and on-site parking.

A dedicated house manager will also oversee the running of the apartments with all external maintenance, gardening and landscaping taken care of so homeowners are free to spend more time on the things they enjoy.

Kim added: “We’re excited to announce that we will be selling off plan from December this year, with our sales launch planned for January 2018.

“The development has already attracted significant levels of interest from local people who are interested in downsizing to a lower maintenance property in the area. We would encourage anyone interested in the development plans to register their interest with us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, and for regular updates.”
