Superheroes, aka rock trio The Script, return to the music scene with a new album and a visit to Swindon's Oasis.

Tickets to the concert at North Star on Friday, August 25 go on sale from 9am on Friday, July 28.

Danny O'Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power return from their hiatus to recharge their batteries with a new single, entitled Rain, and their fifth album, Freedom Child, due for release on September 1.

The Swindon date is part of a UK tour which starts in the boys' home town of Dublin and ends at the O2 Academy in Brixton.

Notching up hits such as We Cry, Breakeven, Superheroes, Hall of Fame and Six Degrees of Separation the trio have left an indelible mark on the music world and won over some big names such as Paul McCartney, Bono from U2 and the guys from Take That.

They even beat U2 in the Meteor Awards of 2010, winning Best Live Performance for their set at Ireland's Oxegen Festival in front of 78,000 fans.

The musicians write songs that resonate with everyone and include events in their own lives such as losing a parent, a sadness experienced both by Danny and Mark.

"The End Where I Begin is such a poignant song for us, I set myself up for that song, I remind myself why it was written and then we play it. Yet it’s not tough for me at all. I feel like I’m actually sharing something that you all relate to. You have all lost somebody too,'' said Mark.

Honesty and emotion in their songwriting is pivotal to The Script's style, Danny explains what the Script in life is for him.

"It's the journey from a feeling of devastation in the pit of my stomach, for me to be able to think about that, put it into words, to be able to sing it, the band play it, you to hear it, and replicate that same feeling. That's what we try to do.''

Mark says: "The thought of someone sitting putting our music on because they are hurting and we are the soundtrack to that emotion, to me is the greatest power of music.''

Sadness in a Script song is always underlined by hope and the strong grit of the Irish.

Supporting The Script on their tour is English singer/songwriter JP Cooper whose hit single September Song got to number seven in the UK charts. For tickets information visit www.thescriptmusic.com/ - Flicky Harrison
