A YOUNG wrestling fan got the surprise of his life when local wrestler Saime Sahin made a surprise appearance at his seventh birthday party on Sunday.

Kai Murdoch had seen Saime at a show at the Swindon Mecca earlier this year and his dad David contacted the 20-year-old to organise the surprise.

David said: "I messaged him on Facebook and offered to pay him to pop in for ten minutes at the party.

"He accepted and said he'd do it for free.

"The party was in the trampoline park at the Swindon Link Centre.

"Saime said he was nervous, which surprised me, but he was great, a really nice and generous guy."

He stayed for the rest of the party, meeting everyone, signing autographs, and arm-wrestling some of the children and dads.

David described the priceless reaction the group had when he brought Saime in.

He said: "The kids turned around and Kai's cousin Marley recognised him instantly.

"Kai was shocked and completely lost for words, he didn't know what to do, he wasn't expecting it at all.

"Saime said he meant to bring a gift, I said that giving up his time for free was enough, but then he took £20 out of his wallet and gave it to Kai."

Saime holds weekly training sessions at. the Haydon Wick Centre every Thursday for kids and adults, and has done shows all over the country.

The Moredon man plans to give Kai one of his t-shirts as a belated birthday present.

He said: "I like to make people around me happy and Kai's got something to remember, which feels good.

"It was really enjoyable, David made me feel welcome, everyone was really nice and it was nice to see that I make an impact on people's lives.

"It was quite weird for me because I'd never done anything like that before but it was great.

"My next Swindon show is in October, hopefully I'll see Kai there!"

David added: "It was really good fun, Kai was really happy, meeting Saime was the highlight for him.

"His little sister Mai loved Saime's hair and I think I got a lot of brownie points with my wife Natsuki for organising this.

"She was very impressed with how polite and decent he was."
