A CONFRONTATION involving dozens of teenagers just yards from a primary school left a boy requiring hospital treatment on Friday.

The incident happened at around 5pm last Friday on the foot/cycle path which runs past Lainesmead Primary School. It is believed to have involved a group of approximately 30 youths.

Detectives from Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation to track down all those involved in the mass altercation.

The victim, who has not been named, received cuts and bruising to his legs and was taken to hospital for treatment. Fortunately his injuries were not serious and he was able to be released to return home on the same day.

Detective Constable Sandra Higgins-Hughes, who is investigating the incident, appealed to witnesses to come forward.

She said: “We’d like to speak to anyone who was in the area at this time.

“If you heard or saw the altercation or anything suspicious please contact Swindon CID.”
