A TRIP to the Isle of Wight came at a cost to one Swindon motorist after she was caught driving while almost four times the legal limit.

Jane Willson, 55, of The Avenue, Stanton Fitzwarren, was driving her Land Rover along the High Street in Freshwater on May 3 when she was stopped by police.

She blew a reading of 128 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35mcg. Willson’s case went before magistrates in Swindon on July 24.

Willson was banned from driving for 30 months and also ordered to pay court costs of £600 and a victim surcharge of £85.

A driver who refused to cooperate with a roadside breath test has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 15 months.

Elegijus Eidukas, 41, whose address was given as Guostagalio Seniunija in Lithuania, was stopped by police on July 23.

He refused to blow into the breathalyser thereby committing an offence and was held in a police station overnight. He appeared before magistrates the following morning where he pleaded guilty.

He was fined £269 and told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30. He will not be able to drive again until October 2018.

A 19-year-old will next appear at Swindon Crown Court on August 18 to face a charge of perverting the course of justice.

Lauren Wyatt, of Bright Street, is accused of cleaning and disposing of a knife and clothing involved in a stabbing in November last year.

She entered no pleas when she appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

A Swindon man has been slapped with a community order after stealing a laptop.

Jan Savash Jevdet, 51, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the theft of an Acer laptop worth £400 on Friday, July 21. He also pleaded guilty to visiting a house in Chalford Avenue, breaking the terms of a restraining order.

Swindon magistrates gave Jevdet a community order and told him to pay a victim surcharge of £85.

Swindon magistrates banned Mark Illes from getting behind the wheel for 17 months after he pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio on the A346 at Marlborough on June 30 while he was more than twice the alcohol limit.

Illes, 31, of Vistula Crescent, Swindon, also admitted having no licence or insurance. He was fined £243 and told to pay prosecution costs of £85 plus £50 towards victim services.

John Blick, 45, of Conan Doyle Walk, will face a trial next month after pleading not guilty to three counts of assault on the same man back in March.

Blick will next appear before Chippenham magistrates on September 20 and he was released on bail until that date.

Callum Selley, 26, of Fanstones Road, has been handed an eight week prison sentence suspended for 12 months for using threatening or abusive words/behaviour to a man in Calne in April.

Magistrates also told Selley to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £200.

Magistrates ordered a man to undergo a building better relationships programme when he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on May 27 by beating her and damaging her handbag, iPhone and bank cards.

Oliver Puleston, 28, of Hodson Village, Wroughton was given a 12-month community order at the hearing before the Swindon bench on July 19.

He was also told to do 40 hours of unpaid work, pay £110 in compensation to his victim, £85 prosecution costs and £85 towards victim services.
