A GANG of dealers caught bringing more than £30,000 worth of cocaine into Wiltshire have received lengthy jail terms.

Sadeq Ali and Henry Waigo had more than a quarter of a kilogram of the drug in their hire car as they drove into Swindon after a trip to Essex.

And a few weeks later 32-year-old Ali was arrested as he sold heroin and cocaine on the streets of Chippenham.

Now he has been jailed for five-and-a-half years while Waigo, 34, and Peter Mascarenhas each got six-and-a-half years for their parts in the enterprise.

David Scutt, prosecuting told Swindon Crown Court that the trio were caught by telephone evidence after the delivery was intercepted on Friday, July 8, 2015.

He said just over two weeks earlier Waigo took Ali to a Hertz depot in Swindon, where he rented the Ford Focus used for the drugs run.

The following day the men's phones were tracked going to Bristol and back together before making a round trip to Harlow two days later.

On the day they were arrested they left at 7am for another trip to the Essex town, being pulled over by police as they entered Swindon.

Ali was driving and, between Waigo's feet, police found a bag containing about 280g of cocaine at about 80 per cent purity.

Mr Scutt said street deals were normally 20 per cent making the consignment close to importation strength and worth more than £30,000.

Inside the wrapping of the drugs investigators found DNA which matched Mascarenhas', who has three previous convictions for supplying hard drugs.

At Ali's house detectives found scales and mixing equipment and ammonia, which can be used to turn cocaine into crack.

He said Waigo had a flat in Applewood Court, Westlea, for which he had paid almost £3,500 upfront in cash to cover six months' rent and deposit.

In it officers found more than £5,000 in cash and a tub of creatine which, as well as being used by body builders, is used to bulk up drugs.

Mr Scutt said on Wednesday, August 10, 2015, Ali was arrested in Chippenham with another man and found to have 21 deals of heroin and cocaine which he was selling.

In January last year police went to Mascarenhas' house near Harlow where they found creatine and benzocaine, also used to cut drugs, and a kilo of another white substance.

Ali, of Dowling Street, Swindon, admitted three counts of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Waigo, of Bromley, Kent, denied possession with intent and money laundering while Mascarenhas, of Bishop's Stortford, Herts, denied being concerned in the supply of cocaine, but both were convicted after a trial.

The court heard that Mascarenhas and Waigo each had previous convictions for dealing hard drugs and Ali had for violence.

Ciara McElvogue, for Mascarenhas, said he still denied the charges as he was trying to turn his life around after a previous jail term for supply.

She said he was a family man who had been hoping to start a career as a pilot after someone sponsored him to the tune of £150,000 which now lat in tatters.

Archangelo Power, for Waigo, said his client's partner was 'crushed' by what was going to happen to him.

Giles Nelson, for Ali, said he was the only one to admit what he had done and was trying to pay off a drug debt.

Passing sentence Judge Robert Pawson said: "The actual details of the precise business arrangement between the three of you is unlikely ever to be known.

"But the fact is that the three of you, it is not a conspiracy it is a joint enterprise, you all three were involved in the trade in cocaine, and you Ali, heroin, in July 2015."
