A TEENAGER was stabbed at Mannington Recreation Ground on Sunday evening.

Police say the 19-year-old man was seriously assaulted by an unknown offender at around 9.30pm.

It is understood the victim made his way to McDonald's after the attack to seek help which is when the emergency services were called.

He was taken to Southmead Hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he is currently in a stable condition. A knife was found nearby by officers.

DI Paul Hacker said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in this area around this time.

"I want to reassure the community that we are prioritising this investigation and believe this was an isolated incident and the victim was possibly known to the offender.

"Additional reassurance patrols are being put on in the area as we continue to make enquiries."
