A DAY of team-building saw staff at Smiths News in Kembrey Park raise £200 for Prospect Hospice.

Throughout the day, the teams from the Smiths News Central Information department were challenged to work with other teams within the department.

Each team had chosen a charity from their region, with the size of the donation made decided by how well the team performed in the day’s challenges.

The company’s Information & Infuse Team had chosen Prospect Hospice as their charity.

Keen to raise money for the hospice, they were spurred on further by their director who chose to add to make a contribution to the funds raised.

The team completed the challenges to raise £200 for the hospice.

“We chose Prospect Hospice as it’s so pivotal in the local community and has helped support a number of us here,” said Lauren Devine, senior infuse executive at Smiths News.

“My grandad, Charles, stayed at the hospice for ten weeks during 2013. The nurses and support team were not only amazing towards him, but also to my nan, who spent every day with him, and to the rest of the family.

“Sadly, a member of our team lost her dad, Jim, last year to pancreatic cancer. He was also cared for at the hospice, with him and his family receiving the same level of care. There will also no doubt be a number of other people around our offices that you’ve helped.”

Genevieve Arney, from Prospect Hospice’s fundraising team, paid thanks to the Smiths News team for their charitable donation.

She added: “It’s always lovely to be able to get out in our community and hear about how people have been helped and supported by our work. The funds that Smiths News have raised will enable us to continue to help those in our local community who most need us. So once again, a huge thank you.”
