POLICE officers want to identify the owner of a bike that was stolen from the town centre on Tuesday.
At around 2.30am, CCTV operators spotted two unknown men kicking and breaking the lock securing a bike to the rack outside Tesco Metro.
The men freed the bike and fled with it before being identified.
Later the same day, an alert police officer spotted the bike in Regent Street and seized it.
However, because the owner has not come forward to report it missing, the officer was unable to return it.
Town centre officer PC Paul Bezzant said: "Having found the bike, which was taken by force, we'd like to reunite it with the owner.
"If you know the owner or can help with our enquiries please contact us on 101."
