TRAIN passengers will be able to take a step back in time this weekend when a local heritage line turns the clock back.

And their efforts to transform the landscape straight into the 1940s will not just be limited to the rails, but also the skies.

The Swindon and Cricklade Railway is stoking up ready to welcome passengers this weekend to their ever-popular Steam and Vintage Weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will see families flock to Blunsdon to ride vintage trains and get a taste of days gone by.

The Swindon and Cricklade Railway is a registered charity and the annual Steam and Vintage event is always well supported.

Adrian Brodie of The Swindon and Cricklade Railway said: "Families will be treated to two full days of train rides on a heritage steam train and there will be working traction engines, stationary engines, some vintage vehicles, and other vintage artefacts on display.

"Ticket price includes train rides all day on a steam train, and all the vintage attractions and trade stalls.

There will be nine working traction engines, stationary engines, vintage vehicles and motor cycles, and other artefacts of yesteryear on display.

"Subject to weather conditions, there will hopefully be a Spitfire flypast at around 11.15am on Saturday."

Admission prices are £10 for adults , £8 for seniors and £7 for children. They will also be offering a family ticket for two adults and two children at £30.
