A 51-year-old man appeared in court on Monday charged with grooming a 14-year-old girl.

Andrew Razey, formerly of Milston Avenue in Swindon and now living in Ruskin Avenue, Stratton, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

On July 31, Razey allegedly met or connected with someone who he thought was a young girl and attempted to arrange to meet her in order to carry out acts which would break the 2003 Sexual Offences Act.

He will be sent for trial at Swindon Crown Court on September 15.

Razey was granted bail on the condition that he stay at his home address and not knowingly contact anyone under the age of 16.

Paul Randall was jailed for 18 weeks and banned from driving for 40 months after he admitted driving while disqualified, drink driving and having no insurance.

On July 26 Swindon magistrates heard that Randall, 41, of no fixed address was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta in Cricklade Street on December 3.

A blood test revealed a level of 228 milligrams of alcohol in his system – more than twice the legal limit. He was also told to pay £115 towards victim services.

Magistrates fined a woman £900 after she admitted driving without due care and failing to stop when her Mercedes A180 was involved in an accident that injured another woman.

The collision happened on the Nationwide access road in Pipers Way on January 23. Alana Nixon, 30, of Shilham Way, Cirencester, appeared before Swindon magistrates on July 26 and was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £45 contribution towards victim services.

A Walcot man who stole a car and crashed it while suspended from driving has been fined £220 and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

Tafari Mason, 38, of Torrington Court, who pleaded guilty to all charges, was also tried at Swindon Magistrates' Court for a separate offence of driving without insurance or a licence.

In the first incident, Mason was arrested on New Year's Day for driving a Ford Focus in Queen's Drive without the required third-party insurance or appropriate licence. He was fined £50 and suspended from driving for 12 months.

Then on June 14, while still under suspension, he stole a Renault Scenic, and damaged it in a collision.

For this, he was fined a further £220, suspended from driving for 15 months, and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

Being over the drink-drive limit when her car was stopped in Marlborough Road on July 6 cost Jolene Hinson a £300 fine and a 17-month motoring ban.

Hinson, 40, of Dewell Mews, Old Town, gave a reading of 66 microgrammes of alcohol when the limit is 35mcg.

She admitted the charge when she appeared before Swindon magistrates on July 26 and was told to pay £85 prosecution costs with another £30 towards victim services.

Paulo Jorge Da Silva, 37, of Ramsbury Avenue, Penhill, appeared before magistrates charged with driving without insurance. He pleaded guilty and was fined £150, told to pay a victim surcharge of £30 plus a further £110 in court costs.

Mark Hoskins, of Stubsmead, Eldene, will appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on September 11 to face six charges relating to fraud and the supplying of false information.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order on Kieran Ricks when he pleaded guilty to drink driving and using a car without insurance.

Ricks, aged 18, of Buckland Close, Park North appeared before them on July 26 and was told to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work. The court heard he was twice the 35 microgrammes drink drive limit when he drove a Renault Clio in Cricklade Road, Gorse Hill on July 5. He also had no insurance for the vehicle. Ricks was instructed to pay a total of £170 towards prosecution costs and victim services.

Thief Michael Parsons, who stole clothes valued at £80 from Next, was fined £292 by Swindon magistrates and ordered to pay £80 compensation.

Parsons, 38, of Tintagel Close, Toothill, pleaded guilty on July 26 and was told to make a contribution of £85 towards victim services and another £85 prosecution costs.
