A STAGECOACH bus route has been withdrawn after just four months, following residents’ complaints.

The bus company will no longer run its number three service between Abbey Meads and Great Western Hospital.

The service was introduced in April this year. According to the company more than 13,000 journeys were made on the route each week.

However, changes to other bus services meant that the service was used less often – and complaints from residents about noise increased.

The number three bus ran for the last time on Saturday, August 12.

Rupert Cox, managing director of Stagecoach West, said: “We started the service 3 to help link communities that were underserved by public transport, but since we started the route another bus operator in the region has made changes that reflect our own.

“Customers in Swindon have now started to see a negative impact on their communities, due to the amount of buses, so we’ve taken the decision to cease the number three service.”
