A PLANNING application to build more than 100 new homes at Tadpole Garden Village has been submitted by developers.

The proposal to build 107 new dwellings was submitted by David Wilson Homes at the end of July and marks the latest stage of the ongoing development of North Swindon.

According to the planning documents, the intention, as agreed between David Wilson Homes and Swindon Borough Council – subject to planning permission being granted – is for 107 “high quality new dwellings in keeping with the vision for the Tadpole Garden Village, together with new public open spaces, landscaping and associated highways and drainage infrastructure”.

Kieran Dyer, land director at David Wilson Homes, spoke of his excitement at being part of the new development.

He said: “As a five star housebuilder we are pleased to be building new homes in Swindon to meet the rising demand from people wanting to live here.

“Our development work also provides vital jobs for the local economy and provide a significant economic boost to the local area.

“We know that those who move to our developments are likely to spend the money they earn in local shops and on nearby services, so it’s not only the jobs market here that will see the positive effects of these new homes.”

The proposals come just two months after Crest Nicholson, another development firm at the heart of the Tadpole project, unveiled plans for The Mews – a collection of 37 homes which start from £195,000 or £156,000 under the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

The development of the old Tadpole Farm site is one of Swindon’s major housing projects and will eventually see 1,700 homes built in the north of the town.

Mr Dyer added: “David Wilson Homes has an ongoing development programme to identify potential sites for future development and we are keen to continue providing high quality new homes at Tadpole Garden Village which fulfils building criteria.

“We are currently launching our second phase of homes at this development and hope to be providing new homes in Swindon for many years to come.”
