DRIVERS are being reminded that resurfacing work will start on the A419 near Swindon later this month.

The major maintenance scheme will involve resurfacing the southbound and northbound sections, and work will start on Tuesday, August 29, following the August Bank Holiday.

A spokesman for Highways England, who are carrying out the works, said: “To minimise disruption, much of the work will be carried out under a series of overnight closures from 8pm to 6am, starting with the southbound section between the Lady Lane and A420 junctions.

“The northbound section from the Commonhead roundabout to the A420 will be closed overnight from 30 August to 6 September and northbound from the A420 to Turnpike roundabout between 7 September and 21 September.

“The northbound section between Commonhead and the A420 will also be closed for resurfacing work over the weekend of 9/10 September, from 8pm on Friday, 8 September to 6am on Monday, 11 September.

“Clearly signposted diversion routes will be in place during the work, and Highways England advises motorists to allow extra time and plan their journeys.
