Teams of local Italian car enthusiasts have raised nearly £600 for Prospect Hospice with a charity rally, organised by T H White in Shaw.

29 teams of Abarth, Alfa Romeo and Fiat drivers took to the road for a 53-mile navigational rally around the Wiltshire countryside earlier this month. The teams, made up of a minimum of two drivers each, had to navigate a route in as close to an undisclosed time as possible, while answering questions on a questionnaire about landmarks along the route.

Collectively, the event raised nearly £600 for the local hospice, recently chosen as the firm’s charity of the year. The rally, the second held by the Swindon dealership, was only the start of T H White’s fundraising activity, with four members of staff taking part in Tough Mudder later in the month.

Participant and Prospect Hospice trustee Clive Bassett said: “What a great morning! We entered as a family team and really enjoyed it. We were talking to other entrants and it was clear that they hold the work of the hospice’s staff and volunteers in very high regard. My thanks go out to T H White for organising such a fun event and using it as an opportunity to raise money for Prospect too.”

Events and Community Manager Genevieve Arney said: “We’re delighted to be working with T H White this year and the rally was a great way to kick off their support for us. There was a great atmosphere on the day with lots of excitement before the teams set off and when they were coming back in and waiting to hear who’d won. We’re really looking forward to the rest of the year and are wishing the Tough Mudder team lots of luck with their challenge later this month.”
