A MOTORIST was killed in a head-on collision last night after they drove the wrong way along the M4.

The motorway was closed for seven hours between junctions 16 and 17 in the wake of the collision which happened at 10.40pm on the eastbound carriageway.

Police said a black Audi A3 went the wrong way and collided with several cars before crashing into an Audi A4.

The A3 driver died at the scene and the A4 driver was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries, although they are not thought to be life threatening.
