A HOG roast and raffle fundraiser at Kembrey Park proved to be a huge success after a record amount of money was raised for Prospect Hospice.

The popular gathering sees all occupying businesses at the business park come out to support the fundraiser which is now in its fifth year and was held on August 23..

A total of £1,367.70 was raised – much to the delight of estate manager Bernadette Carey who had the honours of handing over the cheque to the Wroughton-based hospice this week.

“We had a lot of help and support from people around Kembrey Park not just on the day but also we had people coming to help set up which was great,” Bernadette said.

“It was well attended so we were really pleased.

“The fundraiser has a real good community feeling about it and everyone is nice and friendly.

“Prospect Hospice is a charity we have supported ever since we started this event and everyone knows someone who has used that facility. They do a tremendous job so anyway we can help we will.”

Much of the food on the day was kindly paid for by estate landlord Canmoor while other items were donated from neighbouring businesses.

As well as people digging into delicious hog roast rolls, a high-end raffle helped boost donations where prizes up for grabs included a £1,500 designer handbag, a specialist toolbox and a food hamper.

Genevieve Arney, events and community manager at Prospect Hospice thanked Bernadette and the businesses for their support.

“They put so much hard work into organising the event for everyone and so it is nice to see that come back in the money they have raised.

“The money makes a huge different to the numbers of patients we are able to help and care for in the local community. You always get someone come up to you and tell you about how their family was helped by the hospice and so it is nice that we are associated with the town in that way.”
