THE MP for North Swindon will open his office doors on Saturday in aid of a children's charity looking to expand its work in Swindon.

Justin Tomlinson will host a coffee morning for the Jessie May Children’s Hospice at his Orbital Retail Park office between 10am and 12pm.

The event is aimed at introducing Swindonians to the charity as it prepares to help more children, and their families, in the local area.

The Jessie May organisation provides hospice at home care for terminally ill children. It was set up by the parents of Jessica May Purrington, a little girl who died at home aged just four months, surrounded by her family and her nurses.

They have a team of dedicated nurses who provide care to children and families during a child’s life and after their death.

The charity's nurses are trained to help in a variety of ways, whether with vital respite care, emotional support, end of life care, or bereavement support alongside family events.

This enables other children with conditions like Jessica’s, as well as their families, to have support in their own homes, and the choice to die in a familiar, comfortable environment when that time comes.

After a lot of hard work and perseverance, Jessica's family managed to secure initial funding and the charity bearing their daughter's name was officially launched in 1996. They now hope to expand their fantastic work into Swindon.

To come and show your support for that goal and to find out more about their work, all while enjoying some fantastic coffee and cake, head along to the first floor of the Customer Service Hub at the Orbital Shopping Park on Thamesdown Drive this Saturday.
