A NURSERY has been praised for providing a solid stepping stone to school.

Tiny Toes Day Nursery in Abingdon has maintained its ‘good’ rating from Ofsted, following an inspection at the end of July.

The education and childcare regulator said in a report: “Children develop the skills they need in readiness for their eventual move to school.

“Staff support children’s physical development well and children access the outdoor area daily.

“They have great fun throwing balls through hoops, balancing over obstacle courses and swinging in tyres.”

The Northcourt Road nursery currently has 52 children on its roll, and looks after youngsters aged between one and four years old.

In a report released in August, the Ofsted inspector added: “Children from a young age learn to tidy up and share toys. They develop their mathematical skills particularly well.

“Children are thoughtful others, themselves confidently and of how to resolve conflict.

“The manager and staff have developed strong links with other settings children attend, to promote children’s continuity of care and learning as they move.”

The nursery was rated ‘good’ in all four categories, including leadership and personal development.

Its previous inspection in 2014 also resulted in a rating of ‘good’.
