The revamped Double Tree Hilton Hotel has a new face looking after the events organisation.

The new meetings and events manager at the Swindon hotel is Shannen Downey.

Shannen, 23, used to work at the Marriott hotel on events, reception and sales. She has teamed up with her former boss Adam Flint, who was general manager at the Marriott and is now in charge at the Hilton.

The former St Joseph's and New College stuendent is busy planning her first event at the Hilton, a wedding fair on Saturday, October 21, called Your Wedding, You Way.

The Hilton was built in 1994 and was extended in 2001 and is the biggest hotel in Swindon with 171 rooms.

In September last year the hotel was rebranded as the Double Tree by Hilton, one of 500 hotels worldwide.

The Swindon hotel has 15 meeting rooms, can accommodate a 350 person theatre style event and 260 people for a sit down dinner.

The hotel has just undergone a £4m refurbishment programme and the management intends to make it the best hotel in Swindon.

Shannen said she was thoroughly enjoying her new challenge and working again with Adam and Emma again was tremendous.

Also part of the management team is Emma Richards, who is director of sales at the Hilton, the same post she held at the Marriott.
