REVELLERS can look forward to animals, children's games and real ales when Old Town Autumn Fayre returns this weekend.

The festival will see hundreds descend on Christ Church on Cricklade Street for an afternoon of family fun.

Last year, the community centre and churchyard was packed with stalls and family activities.

Rev Daphne Hardwick, associate minister at Christ Church, told the Adver last year that the fayre grew out of a more traditional vicarage tea party.

"About three years ago we decided that we wanted it to have more of a focus on Old Town," she said. "We felt we wanted very much to reach out to the community."

This year, tame goats and sheep from Dave and Ewes Mobile Farm will be charming families. They'll be competing for children's attention with hook-a-duck, hoopla and splat the rat games.

Parents can enjoy a glass of real ale or local cider while listening to the Bill Bailey Jazz Band. New for this year is the Little Box Bar, a travelling gin bar converted from an old horse box.

Old Town Autumn Fayre is at Christ Church on Saturday September 9, from 12pm to 4pm.
