FOUR teenagers have been arrested following after a mystery man was attacked by a gang of youths and beaten with sticks as he cycled past the County Ground last night.
Wiltshire Police received a number of reports about the incident which happened in Shrivenham Road at 6.30pm.
“The man managed to cycle off after the youths ran off towards the County Ground. Officers attended the scene and four youths were located,” said a spokesman.
Two were arrested on suspicion of affray, one for assaulting a police officer and affray and the fourth for affray and a racially aggravated public order offence.
All are aged 14 and from Swindon. They were taken to the custody suite at Gablecross Police Station.
PC Stuart McWilliams said: "Although we had several reports from members of the public who witnessed this nasty incident, we have not received a report from the victim himself and we have not been able to locate him.”
He appealed for the victim or anyone that might know him, to make contact by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
