It’s finger clicking good!

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky – and they’re at the Bristol Hippodrome for one week only! The Addams Family musical takes the characters created by Charles Addams in his American comic strip, turned TV show, and turns the macabre and bizarre comedy into a fantastic theatrical farce with toe tapping tunes and laugh out loud jokes.

Rich, beautifully designed costumes, fun choreography and a spooky mansion set filled with dead relatives, makes a marvellous backdrop to what is a supercharged melodic extravaganza.

The two-part musical farce centres around the romance of Wednesday Addams, (played by Carrie Hope Fletcher) with Lucas Beineke (Oliver Ormson) playing her hapless, innocent love-interest. His ordinary parents come to dinner, but the night promises to be anything but ordinary, and Gomez (played by Cameron Blakely), must keep a secret that could cost him his marriage.

Making a welcome return to the stage, Samantha Womack plays a comically smouldering Morticia – and boy can she belt out a tune. A highlight of the night has to be Womack’s rendition of the comically dark ditty “death is just around the corner” and her sensual tango turned paso doble. Also worthy of a mention, is Gomez’s comic timing and great delivery – a favourite quip being, “Wednesday is growing up – she’ll soon be Thursday!”

“It” the dismembered hand from the TV show, now plays the ukulele beautifully – with a little help from understudy Scott Paige who stepped into the role of grotesquely jocular Uncle Fester admirably (in place of Les Dennis). And Charlotte Page – with a biography of opera and musically credits as long as your arm – plays a simply stunning Alice Beineke.

The Addams Family musical is a feast for the eyes and the ears, and is only available at the Bristol Hippodrome until Saturday September 23rd. Tickets are available online at www.atgtickets.com/venues/bristol-hippodrome/ or by calling their booking line on 0844 871 3012.
