A POPULAR dog trainer has handed over another potentially life-saving piece of equipment to a North Swindon school.

Janet Garret, of Janet’s Puppy Skool, has throughout the year been raising funds to put defibrillators in schools, something she considers vitally important.

And yesterday she met staff and pupils at Tadpole Farm Primary Academy to hand over the device, the third school to receive a defibrillator through Janet’s fundraising efforts.

Janet, who lives in Haydon Wick, said: “I’m so pleased because, should the worst happen, there is now a chance to save a life, and that’s what this is all about.”

Janet has previously given defibrillators to Dorcan Academy and Churchfields Academy. After presenting the device to Tadpole Farm, she will next month hand defibs to Liden and Uplands College.

A defibrillator is used to deliver an electric current to someone whose heart has either stopped or developed an irregular rhythm, to get the heart beating normally again.

Thrilled that staff and pupils at Tadpole Farm Primary will now have access to the medical equipment, Janet said: “That whole community will know that there is a defibrillator there, should the worst happen. I’m very pleased to be able to hand it to them today.”
