THE year is 1930 and two couples have arrived in France to celebrate their honeymoons – but one new wife overhears a familiar voice singing a forgotten song, and an old flame reignites.

This is Noel Coward’s classic comedy Private Lives, opening at the Wyvern in Swindon tonight and running till Saturday. In true Coward style, it is a witty exploration of love, desire and marriage.

He sets the scene in a classy hotel in Deauville, Normandy. As a distant orchestra plays, Sibyl gazes adoringly at her charismatic husband Elyot, while Victor admires his new wife, the vivacious and sophisticated Amanda. But this night of romance will not end as everyone expects.

Private Lives is presented by London Classic Theatre, and tickets are £19. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

Shane has become one of the UK’s most popular male solo artists, following his career with Westlife, one of the most successful bands in the world of the last few decades.

He will be supported by Australian-Malaysian singer Guy Sebastian, who was Australia’s first ever Idol winner in 2003.
