BIBLIOPHILES are expected to crawl out the woodwork for Pewsham's first ever scarecrow trail, which will focus on the very best of children's books.

Pupils from Kings Lodge School spent the afternoon on Tuesday making their five scarecrows, which will be dotted around town for the trail in aid of some of the school's ongoing projects.

Jill Kelsey, who is helping organise the trail alongside Kelly Bate, Kerri Dodd-Rostron, Sam Harlock and Jo Stewart from the Kings Lodge Friends, said: "Sunday will be our first ever scarecrow trail and ever since Kelly first came up with the idea a year ago, we have been pushing to get it sorted after people in the area expressed their support.

"We will have 28 scarecrows in total including five from Kings Lodge School which the children enjoyed making on Tuesday. We are excited to see so much local support and we have already raised £650 from sponsorship from local companies this year."

Prizes from signed books from authors in the south west to a family ticket to AT-Bristol will be up for grabs on the day for the trail, which will take place from 10am-4pm.

Anyone wanting to take part on Sunday can collect their trail guides from Kings Lodge School.
