The IT Disaster Recovery team at Nationwide Building Society held a fundraising day on Wednesday September 27 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The day featured a range of activities including a samosa sale, 'guess the name of the giant teddy bear' and 'guess how many sweets are in the tub'.

The event was an early fundraiser for Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning, which is on Friday.

The team raised £210.

Harpreet Gill from Nationwide said: "It has been a great effort from everyone involved.

"We would especially like to thank The Jewel in the Crown, who supplied us with delicious samosas, helping us to raise a considerable amount for Macmillan Cancer Support."

Juliana Ali from The Jewel in the Crown said: "The Jewel in the Crown are incredibly proud to work alongside the disaster recovery team within Nationwide Building Society in creating awareness and raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

"Sadly, this year we lost a loved family member through cancer which deeply affected us as a family.

"The Macmillan Nurses were our rock in supporting us throughout.

"We are truly grateful for all they have done for us all and this is our opportunity to say thank you.

"They are truly invaluable to our community."
