A NYTHE woman was handed a suspended jail sentence after admitting assaulting three police officers. 

Aicha Jayne Nugent, 39, of St Ives Court, pleaded guilty to assaulting them on August 12 and to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against two police constables, causing harassment, alarm or distress.

She was sentenced to a total of 26 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months.

Swindon magistrates ordered her to pay compensation to the officers totalling £180 and court costs of £40.

A teenager must complete 12 days of unpaid work after assaulting a woman.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Swindon Youth Court charged with assaulting a woman in June.

Magistrates made a youth rehabilitation order, requiring the youngster to complete 12 days of activity work. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £40.

A man has been handed a 12-month community order for assaulting a woman in July.

Joao Almeida, 44, of no fixed abode, appeared before magistrates on Tuesday where he was told he must complete 120 hours of unpaid work and pay £85 court costs and £85 towards victim services.

A Moredon man accused of driving under the influence of drugs will appear before magistrates this month. 

Rodney Gerald Barlow, 44, of Elborough Road, has been charged with driving a Renault Clio while under the influence of amphetamines. 

Magistrates awarded Barlow bail and ordered him to appear before Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 18.

A Highworth man accused with causing grievous bodily harm to one man and assaulting a woman will be tried by a judge 

Swindon magistrates bailed Stuart David Hibbard, 41, of Westrop, Highworth, to be tried at Swindon Crown Court on October 13. 

Hibbard is also charged with damaging the paintwork of a car.

Vasilica Ionut Gavrilescu, 25, of High Street, Cricklade, was fined £200 by magistrates for being two-times over the drink-driving limit. 

Gavrilescu, who appeared in court with a Romanian interpreter, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance. He had been stopped by police on Whitworth Road on August 20. 

Swindon magistrates fined him £200, ordered him to pay costs of £85 and handed him a 20-month driving ban.

A 46-year-old man has been fined and disqualified from driving after being found to be over the drink-drive limit in the town centre.

Shaun Beck-Jones, of Cedars Close, was found to have 45 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, over the limit of 35, on August 25. He was stopped while driving a Fiat 500L in Carr Street.

He was fined £80 at Swindon Magistrates' Court and ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Magistrates banned a driver from the roads for two weeks and fined him £300 after he was caught speeding on the M4 on March 25. Nicholas Barker, 66, of Bath Road, Chippenham, admitted the offence and was sentenced by Swindon magistrates on September 19.

He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim services charge.

Michael Somerville found himself with a £540 bill after he was caught breaking the 30mph speed limit in his van on Great Western Way on April 4.

Somerville, 29, of Station Road, admitted the charge and on September 19 Swindon magistrates fined him £415 with £85 costs and £40 towards victim services. They also put six points on his licence.
