Three Swindon mum’s have lost the equivalent of a new born baby giraffe between them, Rebecca Martin, Vicky Scott & Claire Worship have a combined weight loss of more than 9 stone.

Although they hadn’t met each other until recently, they share strikingly similar stories, which they are hoping others will be able to relate to. For all three of them it started with the lack of confidence a post-baby body can bring.

“I felt insecure” says Vicky “I was my own toughest critic, imagining any laughter I heard was directed at me, it was a lonely place”.

Claire agrees: “I never wanted to look in the mirror and even leaving the house was a struggle, I was so confident before my son was born a year ago, but all that had changed”.

Rebecca, 38, a mum of three says “I had lost hope as had tried so many diets in the hope of regaining my pre-baby body and nothing had worked”.

All three found that the impact on their confidence also had a direct effect on their eating habits, feeling emotional and tired they often reached for the takeaway leaflets and comfort foods to try and make themselves feel better. Claire says “I used to skip proper meals reach for chocolate for a few minutes of feeling good and then I would feel awful and guilty. I knew I had to change something to be the best mum for my son, I couldn’t hide behind him anymore”.

Vicky was stuck in the same never ending cycle of dieting, self-loathing and guilt when she was told by a friend about her local Slimming World group. Both Rebecca and Claire also joined different groups in the Swindon area and the experience and their reactions all mirror each other’s.

“I honestly couldn’t believe that I could eat so many of my favourite foods, lasagne, chips and even summer barbeques and my three children all enjoy the food too” Says Rebecca “The Food Optimising plan doesn’t feel like a diet at all it is all about filling up guilt free and making a change to the way you cook, shop and eat”. Vicky agrees “I knew it was perfect for me because really nothing is off limits, Fish pie, full English Breakfast even the odd bit of chocolate can fit into your day.

“Plus my twins eat the same as me so there is no cooking extra meals”.

Claire Adds “We enjoy fajita nights or comforting cottage pie as a family and I know I am helping all of us to be healthy and happy, it has made such a difference to our lives.”

The three mums say the warm welcome they received in group from so many like-minded people and their consultant was really important to help take away those nerves, no judgment just support and inspiration each week was the key to their success.

Rebecca from Lawn, Vicky from Liden and Claire from Abbey Meads, have now re-gained their confidence, so much so that they want to give something back to the community so they have all trained to become Slimming World consultants themselves.

They want to help others shed the pounds and feel as amazing as they do.
