THE National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is holding its educational 'Rheum For You' conference in Swindon to coincide with World Arthritis Day on Thursday.

From 10am to 4pm, the charity will provide educational talks to those living with rheumatoid arthritis at the Wrag Barn Golf Club (SN6 7QQ).

Keynote speeches at the conference will be given by healthcare professionals from the Great Western Hospital: Consultant Rheumatologists Dr Sara Carty and Dr Azeem Ahmed, and Lead Research Practitioner Suzannah Pegler.

An estimated 400,000 people in the UK are affected by rheumatoid arthritis, with a new diagnosis being made every 20 minutes.

The Swindon-based conference will allow rheumatoid arthritis patients, their families, and their friends to learn more about the latest research, new medications and systematic problems in the condition, as well as what help is available for those with the autoimmune disease.

It also aims to increase awareness and understanding for the debilitating disease.

The event is open to everyone for a donation of £5 per person (except for NRAS members), with lunch and refreshments provided.

Please register your attendance by calling the NRAS office on 01628 823524 or emailing membership@nras.org.uk
