A YOUNG man who stole his mother's bank details and went on an online spending spree has been spared jail.

Jack Kington, 21, took photos of his mum and dad's cards before going on a two-month splurge between February 20 and April 21 this year.

He took a total of £90 from his mother's card and spent it while still living under his parents' roof.

Kington, who works as an electrical fitter in Marlborough, admitted one count of fraud by false representation.

He was convicted of a single count of theft by employee in February last year, for which he received a community order, and has also received a caution for assault.

Prosecutor Pauline Lambert said: "He will keep on at his mother for long periods of time asking for money.

"Eventually she will give in to him."

Kington had been 'grinding her down with insults and threats', claiming he would steal her wages if she didn't cough up, said Ms Lambert.

"He photographed his mother's and father's bank cards," she said.

Magistrate June May told Kington: "This is your last chance to change your ways.

"If you abuse your relationship with probation you are abusing your relationship with your parents.

"You are only young - this is the time to change your approach. Do you understand?"

"I'm very sorry - I have changed my ways," he said.

Kington, of Medbourne Lane, Liddington, was given a 12-month community order.

He must go to an attendance centre on Saturday mornings for a total of 21 hours and complete 120 hours of unpaid work, as well as pay £175 in compensation and costs.
