AN article that appeared in the Swindon Advertiser on September 13 wrongly stated that former Brunel Rooms boss Jason Ranford had been convicted of driving a vehicle without a valid MOT.

Ranford, 31, of Hinton Parva, contested this in court, and Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court has confirmed this charge was dropped.

The disqualified driver was convicted of driving without a licence and without valid insurance after he was pulled over driving a Ford Excursion stretch limousine on June 16, carrying fee-paying passengers in the vehicle.

Ranford appeared before magistrates in Basingstoke on September 11, where he was sent to prison for 18 weeks, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.

He was also disqualified from driving for 24 months. When handing down the sentence, magistrates took into account his history of 13 previous convictions for driving while disqualified.

The Swindon Advertiser would like to apologise for any confusion caused.
