A WROUGHTON girl could hold onto her place on TV’s X Factor – but she has just an hour left to win Swindon’s votes.

Shania Carvey faced eviction from the smash ITV music show over the weekend, as judge Simon Cowell told the 19-year-old’s girl group they narrowly missed out on getting through to the next round.

But her band, Lemonade, were given a last-minute reprieve.

If they can drum up enough votes by 1pm today, they will go through to the famous Live Shows as a wildcard entry.

Shania, who went to the same college as former Swindon X-Factor star Jahmene, said she was “devastated and shocked” Lemonade didn’t make it through the Judge’s Houses phase of the competition with their rendition of Hannah Grace’s Praise You.

“Everything came crashing down, until we were told we had a chance of being a wildcard,” said Shania.

“I want to do my hometown proud, bring the band with me and put Swindon on the map.”

She said that her bandmates, who she only met through the X Factor, were like “sisters”.

“This process has brought us closer than ever,” she added.

To vote for Lemonade to go through to the Live Shows, call 650 51 08 from a mobile or 090205051 09 from a landline. Calls cost 35p, plus a network charge.

Votes can be cast for free using the X Factor app.

Voting closes at 1pm on Monday, October 23.
