SOUTH Swindon’s top cop will be grilled by councillors.

The Community Safety Forum will have its first meeting in Broadgreen on Tuesday.

The new group, which is expected to meet quarterly, was set up to allow representatives from eight parish councils to meet with officers – including Wiltshire Police’s community policing inspector Dave Hobman.

South Swindon Parish Council chairman Chris Watts said: “We had a very candid meeting with Inspector Hobman, where he explained the new policing areas and the resource challenges for his local policing team.

“The conclusion from councillors was that we should assist to alleviate the pressure by creating a forum where all parishes could attend and contribute; essentially, we would come to him and his team.

“While we are realistic to understand that this Forum cannot resolve the current resource issues for the police in the area, we feel that we can, in a small way, assist Inspector Hobman deploy his team to best effect.”

The first meeting of the Community Safety Forum will be at Broadgreen Community Centre on Tuesday, October 31, from 6.30pm. The meeting is open to the public.
